A man's been charged with arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at a family home in Birmingham earlier this week.

A woman and two children escaped the building, before it was badly damaged by the flames.

The accused, who's from Northfield, was detained at Rubery on Thursday and is accused of breaking into the home at Farren Road and setting alight furniture in the lounge.

He's due before magistrates in Birmingham today (Saturday 18th April) and also faces charged of battery assault against a woman and child and aggravated vehicle taking.
