Man charged after Handsworth shooting

It's understood to have happened on the Hampstead Road

Police have charged a man after another man was shot in Handsworth.

Officers were alerted to a man arrived at hospital with gunshot injuries during the early hours of last Thursday (1 February).

Following enquiries it's understood this happened on Hamstead Road. The victim sustained serious injuries although they're not believed to be life-threatening.

Police executed a warrant, recovered a firearm and made arrests as part of the investigation.

Tyrone Solomon, aged 45, of no fixed address has now been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm and having ammunition.

He was remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

Two other men have been bailed with conditions while enquiries continue.
