A student Just Stop Oil supporter has poured buckets of paint over the outside of the Library building at the University of Birmingham.
Harrison Donnelly is demanding the UK Government immediately halt planned new oil and gas projects and is calling on students and faculty staff to march with Just Stop Oil in London this November.
At around 12:50pm today, the student used buckets of paint and spray cans to paint the front of the £60m University of Birmingham library.
Just Stop Oil students have taken action at three other campuses this morning including at University College London, Sussex and Falmouth Penryn Campus.
Speaking ahead of his action, Harrison, a student from Nottingham, said: "I want to be a university lecturer one day and 'one day' might never come if the world continues to burn. If not now, then when? It’s not too late to make change, if we all act now, we can create change.
A student Just Stop Oil Spokesperson added: "University leaders have demonstrated their willingness to collaborate with a government that is engaging in genocide.
"As students and young people, whose lives are most affected by the criminal decisions being made by this government, we will take the necessary and proportionate action to defend ourselves against those who are destroying our lives. To allow what is happening to go unopposed would be a dereliction of our moral and civic duty."
