Investigation ongoing after Coventry refuse collector dies

Police, supported by health and safety inspectors, are investigating after a refuse collector died on his bin round.
The incident happened at about 10.10am in Guild Road, Foleshill, Coventry, on Thursday, according to West Midlands Police.
Bin rounds were suspended on Friday as a result, with the local MP among those sending sympathies to the man's colleagues and loved ones.
In a statement, the police said: "A man - who was working as a refuse collector - was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
"Inquiries to establish exactly what happened are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed."
In a statement, the council said: "On January 19, one of our senior bin crew tragically lost their life while undertaking their duties.
"We are co-operating fully with the police, HSE and supporting all staff.
"The thoughts of everyone at Coventry City Council are with the family and friends."
Bin collections are set to resume on Tuesday.
Taiwo Owatemi, Coventry North West MP, said: "Awful news that one of Coventry's bin workers died yesterday whilst working to keep our city clean and tidy.
"My thoughts are with their family and everyone affected at this incredibly difficult time."
An HSE spokesperson said: "HSE is aware of this incident and is supporting the police with their investigation."
