Investigation launched after 13-year-old shot in Birmingham

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was shot in Birmingham.

Investigations are at a very early stage, but officers believe the 13-year-old boy was walking down Hockley Circus just before 7pm last night (Thursday) when he was shot in the back.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition with injuries believed to be life-changing.

Hockley Circus will remain closed for most of the morning as forensic enquiries are carried out.
