Homeless support centre in Worcestershire says number of people needing help risen significantly
Maggs Day Centre have sites in both Worcester and Malvern
A homeless support centre in Worcestershire says Christmas can be difficult for many and that they've seen the numbers of people affected increase significantly over the last few months.
Maggs Day Centre have sites in both Worcester and Malvern and help vulnerable adults across the county.
Their day centres aim to be a place homeless people can go to to escape from social isolation.
Melissa Blewitt's the marketing and relations officer at Maggs Day Centre:
"Just because it's Christmas it doesn't mean it's all happy, light and everything's fluffy. It's still the same.
"Because it's Christmas it's colder, the winter is tougher. It's harder for us to provide that service, you know people want to be warm.
"We ran out of hats and gloves the other day and obviously that's one of the most important things to have in the winter weather.
She told us some of the issues they face over the festive season:
"It is harder as agencies shut over Christmas, quite rightly so businesses close over this time. But that support is still needed.
"People still need us to be open to have somewhere to go have somewhere to be warm - have breakfast.
"Its being that consistent body that's always there for them"
