Man arrested after hit-and-run and stabbing in Birmingham

West Midlands Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hit by a car and a second man was stabbed at the weekend.

This happened on Hamstead Road, Handsworth, Birmingham at around 6am on Sunday morning (31 October).

The 33-year-old who was hit by the car remains in hospital in a critical condition.

His friend, aged 35, suffered serious stab wounds and is now recovering at home.

Police believe the two men were at a nearby party before they were attacked.

CCTV enquiries have helped officers to identify a car that they believe was used in the hit and run. This car has been recovered and will be examined by forensic investigators.

At 7.20am on Friday morning, officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
