Dean Goodwin Evans, who goes by stage name Boo La Croux said the World Cup should not have been awarded to Qatar.

The reigning Miss Drag UK who is based in Hereford says the LGBTQ community feels let down by FIFA.

Boo La Croux said the decision to award Qatar the world cup was a mistake, and that FIFA should in future only award the competition to countries that are inclusive.

Qatar has been condemned by many football fans for its poor human rights record and their treatment of LGBTQ people. Homosexuality is illegal in Qatar ad can carry a prison sentence of up to three years.

Boo La Croux said: “I have noticed a lot of people pushing the problems that are going on to the back and focusing on the football, and I think that is wrong”.

In addition, Boo La Crouz said, while the government’s advice to British fans to respect the LGBTQ laws in Qatar makes sense, "it is hurtful to see young people not be themselves".

The hosts have been accused of sportswashing - the act of using sport to improve reputation and project a positive image of a country - but Qatar have promised openness and inclusivity.
