Four people have been rescued from a major blaze in Handsworth this morning.

50 firefighters have been dealing with the fire at a building on Soho Road and say their efforts were hampered because the structure was compromised.

Videos online show huge plumes of black smoke rising into the sky.

West Midlands Fire Service told us Soho Road from St Michaels Road to Villa Road is closed while officers deal with the fire.

We have been told the crews are scaling down the operation.
