Flood barriers go up as river levels rise
An amber flood alert is in place for Bewdley as river levels rise following heavy rainfall.
After a lot of rain, flood barriers are being installed in the River Severn's catchment.
The Environment Agency warns on its website that "flooding is possible" and to "be prepared."
Nick Green from the Agency has said this: "We've seen the river go up and down like a yo-yo.
"We've made the decision to put it up and leave it up for the forseeable so the community is protected.
"The ground is so saturated now that those rivers are literally going up and down.
"Even a little bit of rain can be dangerous and when you hear of 15 to 20 millimetres in the weather forecast, that can have a big impact on the rivers over the next few days and you can see them from just inside the bank to overflowing and flooding."
The Severn is expected to peak in Shrewsbury on Tuesday and in Worcestershire on Wednesday.
The river level is currently expected to peak between 3.2m and 3.6m in height on Wednesday evening.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours, with the Environment Agency closely monitoring the situation.
