A DJ is hoping to raise money for a local homeless charity by playing non-stop for 24-hours.

Max Walker, from Hay-on-Wye, has been hosting kitchen discos during the pandemic but now wants to raise £3,500 to buy a new van for the charity Help Our Homeless Wales.

The charity delivers food and essential items to those in need across Wales and Herefordshire.

They have also recently scaled up efforts to help those in temporary housing who can't afford to buy food.

DJ Max Walker said:

"We did some live streams earlier in lockdown which were really well-received to raise money for local charities, one of which was Helping our Homeless Wales.

"Because the live-streams were free, we set up a Just Giving page and asked people to donate money.

"I heard the charity had some problems with their van which would cost about £3,500 so I decided I wanted to do something about it".

Although the kitchen discos have been a success, Max wanted to do something different and took inspiration from Joe Wicks and the 24-hour streams hosted by DJ EZ.

Max has been involved in raising money for charity since university and said he wanted to help people less fortunate during the pandemic.

He added:

"Particularly for a homeless charity right now it is so difficult. Lockdown is tough for everyone but we're lucky to have a roof over our head and it's just about helping those who don't.

"By helping them raise the cash for the van it will also mean they aren't diverting any other money which is needed to buy food and other essentials".

Max will be hosting his live stream from The Globe in Hay-on-Wye from 8pm on February 5 to 8pm on February 6.
