Residents in Shropshire who are affected by diabetes can learn more about how to live well with the condition at events taking place next week.

The free events are taking place at Mercure Hotel in Telford on Tuesday (18th) and at Shrewsbury Town Football Club's ground on Thursday (20th).

The events will offer the opportunity for attendees to meet some of the Midlands Diabetes UK team, the local diabetes UK Group, as well as fellow people living with the condition.

Key healthcare professionals will also be there to give an overview of the local diabetes care available and what the future holds for people living with or caring for someone with the condition.

Peter Shorrick, Diabetes UK Midlands and East of England regional head, said: "the purpose of these events are to give people with diabetes the opportunity to speak up and to meet other people with the condition, so they don't feel alienated or isolated.

"We want to make sure people are getting the right care, they know what care to expect and to make sure their quality of live is improved," he said.

Both the events are taking place between 6 and 8pm, and you can sign-up through Eventbrite.
