Cyclist seriously injured in Birmingham

A man has sustained serious injuries following a road traffic collision involving a pushbike and a car in Birmingham yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 9.32pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Chester Road in Erdington. One ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the West Midlands CARE Team attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a cyclist, a man, with serious injuries following a collision with a car.

“He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”

“The driver of the car did not require treatment.”
