Man throws glass and cooking oil at police in Coventry

A 47 year old man has been arrested following an incident at a block of flats this morning (04 August)

Police were called to a report of a man with a weapon damaging property at a block of flats in Lyndale Road, Coventry at just after 4.15am today (Thursday).

Officers, including armed units, attended and the man barricaded himself inside a first floor flat.

Police began negotiations with the man inside, who was alone.

As they entered the flat, glass and cooking oil were thrown at officers, before the man jumped from a window. He was arrested by officers outside.

A 47-year-old man arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting two police officers, has been taken for checks at hospital before being questioned.

Part of Lyndale Road, which was closed off while we dealt with the incident, has now been re-opened.
