Coventry City of Culture: Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall visit

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have been visiting Coventry Cathedral today, as part of celebrations for the city becoming UK City of Culture.

During the visit, Prince Charles had a tour of the cathedral, and attended a short service where the Coventry Litany of Reconciliation was said as an act of solidarity and remembrance.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were met by the Bishop of Coventry, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Christopher Cocksworth, before moving to the ruins of the old Cathedral, where the Dean of Coventry provided a brief overview of the historical significance of the site.

The Prince of Wales was then shown the Reconciliation Statue.

He sat on the chair his mother, Her Majesty sat on 59 years ago, the day of the consecration of the New Cathedral.

This is Charles' first visit to the Cathedral, and the first time he's visited to the city, since February last year, when he opened the National Automotive Innovation Centre at The University of Warwick.

The royal couple also visited the Herbert Art Galley & Museum who are hosting a number of exhibitions as part of City of Culture 2021.

They watched part of a dress rehearsal forDefying Gravity– part of of Coventry Moves which takes place on 5th June which is the signature event of the Coventry UK City of Culture.

The Prince of Wales, is also the Royal Founding Patron of the British Asian Trust, then met local members of the Indian Community who are fundraising to support those impacted by the Covid-19 crisis in India and meet with those who have been directly affected by the pandemic in India through friends and relatives living there.
