Tributes have been made at Cody Fisher's funeral today (31 January) who died after being stabbed at a nightclub in Digbeth on boxing day.

Friends and family gathered at St Peter's Church in Coughton, in Warwickshire, to remember the Stratford Town FC player, who had also played for Bromsgrove Sporting.

Cody's girlfriend Jess Chatwin told the congregation he had "changed her life forever" when she met him in August 2019.

"Cody was brave, he was caring and always had the best advice. He was always my go-to and taught me not only so much about the world but also about myself," she said.

Cody's mother Tracey Fisher described how close she was with her son: "Cody and I had an amazing bond and we were truly best friends, sharing a home together.

"I was always happy when Cody was in the house as it meant he was safe and I knew where he was. I used to call Cody my little star and told him how handsome he was," she said.

His friends also spoke at the funeral, describing their favourite times spent with Cody. One friend said: "This has truly broke my heart. I will miss you more than you can ever imagine, life will never be the same. Love you forever, my partner in crime."

Three men, aged between 18 and 22, have been charged with Cody's murder and remanded into custody awaiting trial which is set to be held in July.

Last week, the Crane nightclub where Cody died was closed for good after having its operating licence permanently removed by Birmingham City Council.
