After a decade-long absence, Birmingham's Walkathon has returned and look set to now become an annual fixture in the calendar.

Help Harry Help Others teamed up with former BRMB director and original organiser of the event, David Bagely.

Almost one thousand people signed up to walk the parks, raising funds for local charities.

Georgina Moseley, the mother of community legend, Harry Moseley, came up with the idea to bring the event back.

Harry Moseley died aged 11 from an inoperable brain tumour but spent most of his life doing charity work. He raised more than ÂŁ750,000 before his death.

Georgina now runs Help Harry Help Others to support families going through similar events.

She said: "Harry would be so proud to see the walkathon back and it means the world to me to see it take place.

"I hope it's return will mean we can make it an annual event, it takes a lot of planning but all the volunteers are amazing at what they do to help."

Birmingham Children's Hospital, NSPCC Birmingham, Birmingham and Solihull Women's Aid, We Are All Making A Difference and Birmingham Mind were the other charities involved in the fundraising event.
