Black Country celebrates it's diverse culture with a 'Multicultural day'
It will take place this Saturday in Dudley
Celebrations are taking place in Dudley on Saturday to mark Black Country Multicultural day.
It's being held at the Market Place in Dudley to celebrate the diverse culture in the city.
The region has had a significant rise in different ethnic groups, who have moved into the borough since the industrial revolution.
This will be the second event of its kind, which will bring people from across the West Midlands together to celebrate how diverse the Black Country has become.
Dudley resident Frankie Prazer set up the event last year after noting that there was a lack of events celebrating diversity in the town.
"This event will kindle civic pride and confidence and has the potential to improve the economic, environmental and social wellbeing of borough residents. I would like to demonstrate how the Black Country's vibrant colourful past - present and future and with the different backgrounds that have settled over the years have made the area as vibrant as it is today," Mr Prazer said.
During the day, there will be performances from Top Church Choir, Romanian Dancers, Creheart Community Group, Poppies Birmingham, Jessons School Choir, Darcelle Wright Harvey, Bhangra Smashup and The Rat Pack.
There will also be a range of stalls, including traditional Indian, Caribbean and Polish food.
A Bhangra Dance Workshop in the Churchill Shopping Centre will take place from 12.30pm till 3.30pm where the public can learn to dance some Bhangra dance.
The Black Country Multicultural Day will take place on the 16th July 2022 from 11am till 4:30pm in Market Place in Dudley.
