A music room in a local school in Birmingham as been named in memory of UB40 member Brian Travers, who sadly passed away in 2021.

As you walk in the room is filled with memories of Brian and his musical talents.

The walls have photos of him in the band and there's a big mural of Brian, along with a painting of a saxophone.

Members of UB40 came to open the room at St Edward's Catholic Primary School and were first to see an exclusive look.

On seeing the room, member Robin Campbell, said: "The whole place is an inspiration and that's what the room is all about. It's wonderful.

"The fact that himself was an inspiration to lots of people, he changed so many lives."

One life that was changed by Brian is UB40's now saxophonist Martin Meredith.

Martin and Brian lived across the street from each other and Brian began to give Martin lesson in playing the saxophone and inspire him into music.

He even bought him his first saxophone.

Flash forwards some years and now Martin is following in Brian's footsteps and part of the bands line-up.

It's hoped that the room will inspire more stories like Martin and help encourage children to take an interest in music.
