Birmingham residents struggling to get on property ladder
One third of young people are being declined mortgages.
People in Birmingham are finding it harder to own their own property after being stuck in the cycle of renting.
Statistics show that 28 percent feel they can't get on the property ladder.
Even one third of young people are actually declined mortgages as well.
On average, Brummies spend around seven hundred pounds a month on rent and have less than a months rent in savings.
From this 39 percent feel like they're wasting money on rent, which isn't counting towards a credit score history.
Chris Hutchinson, who created an app to help people renting own their own homes in the future and improve credit scores, said: "People might need to access credit and insurance stuff or even mobile phone contract.
"All of those things require a credit score and a better one is means a better mortgage offer.
"There's a long term goal of owning that home and there's short term goals of having more money in your pocket at a hard and difficult time."
