Birmingham manager Tony Mowbray has had successful surgery.

The club have confirmed he's recovering from a serious illness.

The 60 year old temporarily stepped down as boss last week after a medical diagnosis.

Mark Venus, who's in interim charge, says Mowbray told him "everything's fine" after an operation.

Mark's also said the team are always asking about him so it's given them confidence.

It's thought Tony Mowbray will be absent for up to eight weeks.
