Birmingham's Lunar New Year celebrations return after pandemic
The festivities in Southside will conclude with a fireworks finale.
Birmingham's Chinese New Year celebrations have returned for the first time since the Covid pandemic.
Two days of festivities in the city centre will culminate in a closing ceremony and fireworks display on Sunday.
For the last two years, celebrations have been shown online because of lockdown restrictions.
James Wong, Chair of the Chinese Festival Committee Birmingham said: “Our sponsors and partners have worked incredibly hard to create a spectacular Lunar New Year programme that everyone will enjoy.
"We cannot wait to welcome visitors to our festivities and celebrate the Lunar New Year this weekend. Kung Hey Fat Choi!”.
This weekend's celebrations have been co-produced with the Birmingham Hippodrome theatre, Bullring and Grand Central.
In Southside today, there will be community performances, street food, fairground rides and family activities.
Visitors will also be able to capture the celebrations by taking photos with Pom Pom the giant panda.
