Birmingham City FC are holding a special match today in memory of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

Arthur, from Solihull, was just six-years-old when he died after suffering horrific abuse at the hands of his step-mother and father in June 2020.

Birmingham City, who Arthur supported, will honour him in their match against Preston North End, which kicks off at 3pm.

The dedicated match-day is taking place at the home game nearest Arthur’s birthday which was January 4th, to celebrate the life of the young supporter.

Players will wear special kit which will feature an 'Arthur 6' printed in the centre of the chest. It is also on sale to members of the public with the money going towards children's charity NSPCC.

The kit will also be worn tomorrow, when the women's team face off Sunderland at a Women's Championship match.

During the sixth minute of both the men's and women's games, supporters are also encouraged to take part in a round of applause to celebrate Arthur’s life.

Ian Dutton, Managing Director at the club, tells us it's important to continue Arthur's legacy: "We want to do this in honour of Arthur and to continue his legacy. We've also committed to do something every single year around his birthday, which is the 4th January, to make sure his legacy continues.

"Arthur was one of our own and we want to make sure we remember him, the beautiful little boy with the big Birmingham City badge on his shirt."
