Big Sleep Out takes over Birmingham
It's to raise awareness around homelessness in the city.
Over one hundred people took to the streets of Birmingham last night to sleep in cardboard boxes to raise awareness around homelessness.
It's part of a campaign from Birmingham City Mission.
Everyone taking part have been sponsored to raise money as well to support new initiatives from the charity.
They were given a box of doughnuts and a hot cup of coffee for the entire night, to experience being homeless.
It's also to highlight the growing rise in people hitting the poverty line.
Chris Kynaston used to be homeless for part of his life and now works in the charity.
He said: "The whole point of doing this in the winter is to experience what it's likes sleeping rough.
"From the 2021 figures, it shows rough sleeping has increased by 86 percent. Those figures have surely got to be higher than that now.
"It is tough and I think from the first time in our generation, we're seeing more people from all walks of life falling into that poverty line and suffering from the economic crisis."
It's hoped the money raised will go towards a new centre to advise people on the poverty line.
