West Midlands Police are appealing for information after the M6 was forced to close following a collision with street furniture.

Emergency services were called to the M6 northbound carriageway near to junctions 6 and 5 just after 2am yesterday (Wed) when a lorry carrying an abnormal load entered a road works restricted area and collided with a lamppost causing it to fall into the opposing carriageway.

The lamppost struck a number of vehicles causing damage and both carriageways were closed while the lamppost was removed.

Officers are now appealing for information as they continue to investigate the incident and locate the vehicle involved.

No one was injured, but officers say they need people to contact them if they have any dashcam footage or witnessed the incident.
