Eleven people - including three children - managed to get themselves to safety when a fire broke out in a semi-detached house in Parry Barr.

One woman was checked over at the scene by firefighters, but no one else is reported to have been injured.

West Midlands Fire Service called the fire "severe".

The force said: "This was a severe fire in a semi-detached house, which spread to the roof space/loft conversion of the adjoining property on Walsall Road."

Around 40 firefighters tackled the blaze on Cliveden Avenue when they got the call at 3:52am today (15 June).

An investigation is now underway to determine how the fire started.
