Worcester RFC stepping in to support suspended sister club
The amateur side have provided a home for the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation
The local community has rallied around Worcester Warriors since the Rugby Football Union (RFU) suspended the Premiership side from all competitions as they were unable to show proof of insurance cover and funding for the club's monthly payroll.
With the club entering administration and their Sixways Stadium under lock and key, amateur side Worcester Rugby Football Club have stepped up to offer them a temporary home.
They've stepped in to host the community foundation and their weekly dementia cafe . Club chairman Steve Lloyd believes it was important they offered their support to protect a crucial county asset get back on their feet. He told us he's been in contact with Director of Rugby Steve Diamond offering them a place for the first team and academy with a place to train.
Chairman Steve Lloyd explains that "it's down to us to offer as much help as we can when the professional club is in trouble.
"The professional club encompasses all sorts of different parts that are all valuable to the county, and we see ourselves very much as a community based rugby club.
"If we can be of assistance to our professional neighbours, then we are going to dot that."
Warriors' debts are understood to total more than £25million, including at least £6m in unpaid tax.
