"Severe" fire at Coventry high-rise block

A fire on the 15th floor of a high-rise block in Coventry is being investigated.
75 firefighters dealt with the blaze at its height just before 9pm last night (Sat 16th April). The fire is now out.
Nineteen residents have been unable to return to their flats and Coventry City Council have made the library available for welfare purposes.
WMFS says their first crew arrived within two minutes of being mobilised and found a severe fire in a flat on the 15th floor of 16-storey Nauls Mill House on Middleborough Road in Coundon.
Fire crews were sent from several fire station in Coventry, Solihull and Birmingham. A drone was also sent up to help with operational decision making.
There are no reports of anyone being seriously hurt. More than 20 West Midlands Ambulance Service staff assessed and discharged four people at the scene.
Five adults, a child and an infant were asked to wear fire escape hoods before being led to safety by firefighters in breathing apparatus.
A further five adults and a child self-evacuated from the building.
'This was a severe fire on the 15th floor. It spread to the balcony above. Our first crews arrived within two minutes, to be met with a very challenging incident' - Incident Commander.
Seventeen response vehicles attended, including 13 fire engines. A hydraulic aerial platform was also sent to the scene.
