Seven Warwickshire police officers assaulted so far this month

Alleged incidents include officers being spat at and punched

Seven police officers have been assaulted in Warwickshire since the start of the month.

An officer was allegedly scratched after he responded to a report of drunk and disorderly woman in Leicester Street, Bedworth in the early hours of Friday (1 October) morning.

Shannon Wilcox, 26, of Freer Street, Nuneaton was arrested and later charged with assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly in a public place and possession of cannabis. She will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on 12 November.

Dale Smith, 29, of Tile Lane, Nuneaton was arrested after an officer was allegedly kicked in the chest while Smith was in custody at Nuneaton Justice Centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Smith had been arrested a couple of hours earlier following a disturbance at a house in Nuneaton.

Smith has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and assault. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody to appear at the same court again on 12 October.

An officers was allegedly kicked in the leg after she responded to a report of a disturbance at a flat in Stephenson Row, Stratford in the early hours of Monday morning. A 19-year-old woman from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

She was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman at a house in Drayton Avenue, Stratford on Sunday. The suspect was later bailed until the end of October while enquiries continue.

Rachel winter, 34, of Manor Road, Atherstone was arrested after three officers were allegedly spat at following a disturbance at a property in Manor Road, Mancetter on Monday.

One officer was allegedly spat at as she responded to the incident with another two allegedly being spat at while the suspect was in custody.

White is also alleged to have been abusive to an officer and spat in the back of a police van.

She was later charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage and using abusive words to cause harassment.

Winter will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on 12 November.

An officer was allegedly punched in the chest as he responded to a report of a disturbance at a house in Bilton, Rugby on Monday night. A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and later released under investigation.
