Four police officers assaulted in Nuneaton over the weekend

The Warwickshire force has released details of a number of incidents

Warwickshire Police have released details of a series of arrests made over the weekend in connection with four police officers being assaulted in Nuneaton.

An officer was allegedly struck to the thigh as he attempted to detain a man following a report of a disturbance in Ansley Road, Nuneaton on Friday evening. A 30-year-old man from Gun Hill was later charged with assaulting an emergency worker and will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.

A 26-year-old woman from Barwell was arrested and charged with assaulting an emergency worker after an officer was allegedly kicked in the leg while attending a report of a disturbance at George Eliot Hospital on Saturday afternoon. She will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.

A man was arrested after a car collided with a police vehicle after it had been stopped by officers in Tomkinson Road, Nuneaton on Saturday evening. An officer suffered injuries to his arm and leg. The 39-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and drink driving. He was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.

An officer was allegedly kicked in the back as he transported a prisoner to custody on Sunday night. The 26-year-old from Nuneaton had been detained in Poachers Close, Nuneaton following a report of a disturbance. He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, possession of cannabis, criminal damage and breach of the peace. He was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.
