The West Midlands is an amazing place to be, whatever the weather, but it's particularly brilliant in the sunshine! We've put together the best things to do in the sunshine right here in the West Midlands (you can thank us later 😉)! Whether you’re wanting an ice cream in a beer garden, or a family fun day this list has it covered.

Eat Al Fresco

The West Midlands has some of the best Al Fresco dining options, with a range of food options at many different price points, there really is something for everyone.

There's plenty of choice at the top end, with some incredible restaurants like the Michelin-starred Simpsons in Brindleyplace, Birmingham. There's a great selection of pubs across the West Midlands if pub grub is more your scene. The Hatton Arms in Warwick has beautiful views of Hatton lock, if you wanted something slightly more family-focused the British Oak in Stirchley is widely regarded as a brilliant family choice. They hold special family days at the pub and have a Tiki cocktail bar in the garden!

Visit a garden

It's a great chance to marvel at the beauty of other people's gardens.
There are loads of public gardens to visit in Birmingham and beyond from Martineau Gardens to Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens.
And of course, we have the Botanical Gardens which always looks beautiful in the sunshine.

Head out for a picnic

We have some of the very best parks and natural beauty spots right here in the West Midlands, such as the Shropshire Hills and the Clent Hills. When a sunny day hits, it's the perfect opportunity to pack up your picnic basket and enjoy some of the natural beauty our incredible region has to offer.

Visit a local park

We're lucky enough to have some of the best parks right here in the West Midlands! Coventry has War Memorial Park and Coombe Country Park, Birmingham has Sutton Park and Cannon Hill Park, Worcester has Gheluvelt Park and Fort Royal Park, meanwhile in the Black Country & Shropshire there's some brilliant local parks such as Chasewater Country Park and Dawley Park in Telford.

And don't forget, Hits Radio Birmingham is soundtracking your summer across the West Midlands.
