There's a national chicken shortage at KFC restaurants! And of course it wasn't long before the Internet has been having some fun with the whole situation.
Over the weekend it emerged that KFC has had to close many of its restaurants due to chicken delivery problems. In an email sent out to their database they said, 'We've brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they've had a couple of teething problems - getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!'
The email continued, 'We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries have meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours.'
KFC has also now tweeted a tongue-in-cheek message saying 'Some chickens have now crossed the road, the rest are waiting at the pelican crossing...'
As a result, the fast food restaurant have now set a web page where you can check to see if your local KFC is open for business.
While KFC's delivery partner is busy trying to get the chicken to the right place, fans of the fast food have been taking to Twitter with hilarious consequences.
One MP has even tweeted about the chicken shortage in response to one of his constituents saying, 'Finger lickin’ crazy for them to run out of chicken', he continued, 'I am sure the Colonel would not be best pleased, even if these things do sometimes happen in business. Hope they can get it sorted very soon for the sake of all who work at the stores as well as their customers. 🍗🐓🍗'.
A CNN correspondent tweeted, 'KFC chicken shortage will last all week in U.K. Why didn’t the chicken cross the road!?'
And, quite a few fans have also posted photos and gifs showing off how they're feeling about the chicken shortage - some of which are pretty hilarious.
Other KFC fans have just vented their frustration saying things like, 'I've been craving KFC for ages and now they have a chicken shortage.'
And one mum-to-be said her baby has been craving KFC! Bad timing!
There is no word yet on when KFC will be back to normal, so in the meantime you should keep checking their new status web page.
