Two people killed and others injured in M40 crash

It happened on a stretch of the motorway in Buckinghamshire on Sunday morning.

Two people have died in a crash involving a number of vehicles on the M40 in Buckinghamshire.

The crash took place between junctions 5 and 4 at around 8.15am this morning.

The collision involved around eight vehicles and took place on the southbound carriageway.

A woman in her sixties and a man in his seventies died at the scene. Their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The accident led to police closing the road in both directions for a number of hours, but it's since reopened fully.

Twelve other people were hurt, with some of them to hospital. Two of the victims have got serious injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Bettington from Thames Valley and Hampshire Police's Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit said:

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the two people who died.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, to please get in touch.
