Tributes have been pouring in this morning, for a young boy who died in Blackpool yesterday (11th May), named locally as Jordan Banks.

It's believed he was struck by lightning while out on Common Edge playing fields.

Police were called to reports of an injured child just after 5pm yesterday. He was then rushed to hospital where he passed away a short while later.

His football club, Clifton Rangers Junior say he passed away doing what he loved and have described him as, "a shining light and an inspiration to everyone that he met."

The Spirit of Youth Football Club say that although the young boy wasn't one of their players they'll be giving support to the family and those that were there with him at the time

It happened on their home ground but wasn't during a club training session.

In a statement on their Facebook page they said:

"The young boy was not a Spirit of Youth player, but, Spirit of Youth is a family and we are entrenched in the local community, and we will give whatever support is required to both the family and to those that were with him at the time."

They later reflected upon the messages being placed near the scene and said:

"It’s wonderful to see the togetherness and humanity in Iight of such tragedy."

People have been arriving all morning to lay flowers, football shirts and boots in memory of the boy as well as messages of condolences for his friends and family.

His friend CJ had come to lay flowers this morning and told us he'll really miss him.

It's clear he'll be sorely missed by those that knew him and the community that has been shaken by his death.
