A 15-year-old is among two people who have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Manchester.

Emergency services rushed to Hampden Crescent in the Gorton area on Monday night (07 October), where a 19-year-old man was found injured.

He was taken to hospital with what are described as "serious" but not "life-threatening" injuries.

Police are questioning a 15-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man, confirming they believe this to be a targeted attack.

Detective Superintendent Gareth Jenkins from Greater Manchester Police said: “The shooting that occurred earlier this evening will understandably cause concern within the community, however our investigation is moving at pace and two arrests have been made in connection with the incident."

Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area in the coming days, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
