A public service of remembrance will take place in Worcestershire this weekend to pay respects to a 9-year-old boy murdered by his mum and her partner.

Alfie Steele was found dead in the bath of his Droitwich home back in February 2021.

Alfie's mum, Carla Scott, was convicted of her son's manslaughter and her partner, Dirk Howell, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 32 years.

Scott will serve a minimum of 17 years.

The service will take place at 5pm on Sunday 16 July at Droitwich's Lido Park - next to the band stand.

On Facebook, the Saltway Team Ministry say "Droitwich want to say goodbye to Alfie, to attend his funeral or line the streets, by Covid and the nature of his death stopped this. Now, we can do that."

The service aims to celebrate and remember the young boy as the "wonderful boy he was".
