Second man charged over kidnapping of pensioner in Oldham

The 87-year-old was bundled into a car, robbed, and dumped 15 miles away in West Yorkshire

A second man has been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a pensioner while he walked home from a mosque in Oldham.

The 87-year-old man was forced into a car on 15 September, before being robbed, and dumped 15 miles away in West Yorkshire.

Azizur Rahman was arrested in Blackpool a week later, and has now been charged with a series of offences, including kidnap and robbery.

Thee 39-year-old, from Oldham, has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Tameside Magistrates Court.

He is also facing charges of assault, intentional strangulation, threats to a person with a bladed article, perverting the course of justice and threats to kill.

24-year-old, Shohad Miah ,from Royton, was also charged with kidnap, grievous bodily harm, robbery and intentional strangulation, on Tuesday 24 September 2024.

A third man has been arrested and questioned by police.
