Police in Glasgow are appealing for information after a fatal crash on the M74 yesterday evening.

A 39 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene after a red Scania lorry collided with him.

The incident occurred at around 11.35pm, near the on-ramp from Polmadie.

It was just hours after a 75 year old woman died in Sandyhills following a similar accident involving a blue van.

The road at Junction 1A was closed for five hours and reopened at 5am.

Appeal to drivers

Glasgow Road Policing Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Despite the time of night, the M74 was still busy with traffic and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened.”

The police are also asking for anyone with relevant dashcam footage from the time to contact 101, quoting incident 5187 of June 3 2023.
