A teenage girl from Chester-Le-Street in County Durham is in a critical condition in a Turkish hospital following a paragliding accident.

Lily Nichol had been holidaying in Turkey together with her family and had been due to return to Newcastle on Friday (November 8th).

However, before they went to the airport, the family had one last meal to mark the end of the vacation.

According to Lily's mum Lyndsey Logan, she was hit by a paraglider who had landed on her in the freak accident.

Lily was taken to the hospital in Turkey, where she was put into intensive care for her injuries.

Doctors have now said the 15-year-old has suffered a bleed on brain - as well as a broken jaw, broken ribs and possibly a broken back.

A fundraiser to raise funds for the hospital bill has been set up by Lyndsey, as the average cost of hospital treatment is working out to be £7,000.

As well as this, Lily is set to have emergency surgery to reconstruct her jaw in the wake of the accident.

Writing on the fundraising page, Lyndsey said: "I'm a desperate mam, I can't lose my little girl.

"She had a stroke and was unconscious during this trauma; my baby girl is in a bad way - I just want to get her home."
