Met Office weather warning for ice and snow issued across north of UK
Areas including North Wales and the South of Scotland will also be hit
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued across the north of England by the Met Office.
The meteorological service said that falling temperatures will cause disruption on roads in the north of the country on Monday and into Tuesday morning.
Much of northern England will be impacted by the cold snap, with the warning also extending into North Wales and the South of Scotland.
The Midlands will also be affected, as the area of the yellow weather warning was updated on Sunday morning (November 17th) to include cities such as Stoke-on-Trent and Nottingham.
Officials at the Met Office have said that rain, sleet and snow will fall during Monday and into Tuesday morning.
It is likely that most snow will fall on hills, but there may be a chance of snow reaching lower levels, which would cause much more disruption, they added.
The melting snow on Tuesday will result in the potential for ice, which could impact roads depending on the amount of rainfall.
To minimise disruption, the Met Office has urged drivers to be cautious while driving as conditions can be dangerous.
It was also recommended to add extra time to travel plans where necessary, and to ensure those who are in the vehicle are warm.
