Man charged with murder after man died 'trying to stop car being stolen'

A man has been charged with murder after a man was hit by a car in Manchester whilst reportedly trying to stop the vehicle from being stolen.

Police were called to reports of an unresponsive male on Olympic Street, Beswick on the morning of Saturday 16 March.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services at the scene, the victim who has since been named as 57-year-old Christopher Hanley was pronounced dead.

In their latest update. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man who was arrested as part of their investigation has been charged with murder.

Marvin Sutton, 39, of no fixed abode, is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19 March.

A 43-year-old man remains on bail on suspicion of assisting an offender.
