King 'doing well under circumstances' says Queen Camilla in Salisbury

Camilla has made her first public appearance since the King's cancer diagnosis.

Queen Camilla has given her first update on the health of King Charles during a visit to Salisbury.

Camilla made her first public appearance in the city on Thursday evening, following the announcement of the King's cancer diagnosis on Monday.

The Queen said her husband the King is "doing extremely well under the circumstances".

She added that the royal family are "very touched by all of the letters and messages the public have been sending" - calling them "very cheering".

The Queen attended the 'Concert for Wiltshire' at Salisbury Cathedral in honour of three Wiltshire charities of which she is patron.

Camilla is patron of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust and Youth Action Wiltshire, with the concert aimed at raising money for the charities.

Award-winning pianist Robert Egerton-Smith performed with the Band of the Grenadier Guards and the Band of the Bugles and the Rifles, marking the first time the two army bands have performed together.
