Italy has scooped all awards and prizes this year, from beating England at the Euro finals to rock and rolling Eurovision.

As we near the end of 2021 Forth 1 spoke with Bake Off winner Giuseppe Dell'Arno about how great a year it's been for his home country.

"Italy also won the World Pastry Cup this year! I think this is only the third time in the history of this competition that Italy has managed to grab it," said Giuseppe.

"An Italian also won the Nobel Prize for physics this year."

The triumphs for Italy in 2021 don't end here as the country also won the men's 100-metre final at the Olympics, with Lamont Marcell Jacobs succeeding Usain Bolt as the 'World's Fastest Man'.

Moreover, Italy was present at Strictly Come Dancing via pro Giovanni Pernice as many people have pointed out on social media.

"Italy has done it again," one person wrote on Twitter, before congratulating Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni on their win after the Grand Final on Saturday 18th December.

All the things Italy won in 2021:

May 2021: MÃ¥neskin win Eurovision

Italy achieved its third victory at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with the rock band Måneskin and the song "Zitti e buoni". Italy won the song contest for the first time in 1964 with Gigliola Cinquetti singing "Non ho l'età" and again in 1990 with Toto Cutugno and "Insieme: 1992".

July 2021: Italy wins the UEFA Euro 2020

The Italian team has participated in ten UEFA European Championships, and reached the final four times. Italy won the championship for the second time at Wembley Stadium, London playing against England. The first time they became European champions was at home in 1968.

August 2021: Italy breaks European record at Tokyo Olympics

Lamont Marcell Jacobs succeeded Usain Bolt as the 'World's Fastest Man' winning a new European record of 9.80 and securing a gold medal in the Olympic 100m final. Moreover, the Italian 4x100m men's team won Olympic Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

November 2021: Giuseppe wins The Great British Bake-Off

Twelve bakers entered the Bake Off bubble at the start of the competition, but only one could be crowned the winner and that was Giuseppe Dell'Anno from Bristol. On hearing his magnificent win, Giuseppe said: "There are no words, I am speechless for once."

December 2021: Rose and Giovanni win Strictly

Italy managed to be present in yet another winning moment of 2021 just before the year ends. Strictly Come Dancing came to an end on 18th December crowning EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis and her Italian partner Giovanni Pernice as champions.
