A fundraiser has started for the cat that ran onto the pitch at Hillsborough last week.

Topsey was missing for 8 months, and her shocked owner saw her on the television during Wednesday's match against Wigan.

She was carried off the pitch by Wigan's Jason Kerr, before being checked over by a vet who was there watching the match.

It's thought Topsey was attacked by an animal outside the ground before she came in, and suffered injuries to her neck and spine.

She now needs an MRI scan and operation which will cost about £9,000. Because she had been missing her owner has said they don't have any insurance for her.

We spoke to Topsey's owner, Alison Jubb, shortly after they were reunited and she told us: "My daughter-in-law phoned me because she was watching the football match.

"She told me that a cat was on the pitch, which looked very similar to Topsey.

"I just laughed it off, as I thought I'd never see her again."
