Fire breaks out on 'superyacht' in Torquay

Police say the cause of the fire is currently being treated as 'unexplained'

Police say investigation's are underway to figure out what caused a 'superyacht' to catch fire in the marina in Torquay earlier today.

Devon and Cornwall Police say it's being treated as unexplained for now.

Five fire crews were called to tackle the fire on the 85ft yacht which broke away from its mooring.

At around 4pm the boat sunk and the Harbourmaster, supported by the Environment Agency, will now look to safely recover it.

Areas around the marina and nearby beaches were evacuated but police say the majority of cordons have now been lifted.

One cordon remains in place at the pier.
