Dumfries and Galloway vote no in the Scottish Independence Referendum.

It was a landslide victory for the no campaigners with 70,039 votes in favour of their side against 36,614 yes votes.

Cheers from the winning side filled Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries as the result was declared at around 4.25am on Friday 19 September.

In total, 122 ballots were rejected for reasons including voting in favour of both answers and void for uncertainty.

Counting officer, Alex Haswell, confirmed the total number of ballot papers counted in the region was 106,775 making it an impressive 87.5% turnout.
