A court has heard that the father of Sara Sharif said "I killed my daughter" and "“I legally punished her and she died” in a call to police from Pakistan.

10-year-old Sara Sharif was found dead at her home in Woking on the 10 August 2023.

Her father Urfan Sharif, stepmother Beinash Batool and uncle Faisal Malik are accused of her murder, which they deny.

They are all also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

All three deny all charges.

Bill Emlyn Jones KC, prosecuting, told the court that "Not one of them ever reported Sara's abuse" and also told the court that the treatment of Sara in the last few weeks of her life was "appalling and brutal"

The prosecution added that the defendants "are all responsible for her death and they are all guilty of her murder"

The court also heard that Sara was found in a bottom bunkbed, under the covers, as if she was sleeping.

The trial continues
