There are three by-elections taking place in February this month, here's everything you need to know about where they are, when they're taking place and who is standing.

There are elections in Kingswood in Gloucester, Wellingborough in Northamptonshire and Rochdale in Greater Manchester.

Two of the seats are currently held by Conservatives while Labour are defending Rochdale.

When are the February by-elections taking place?

The elections in Kingswood and Wellingborough will take place on Thursday 15th February.

The Rochdale byelection will be on the last day of the month - 29th February.

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Wellingborough by-election

Former Tory MP for Wellingborough Peter Bone was handed a six-week suspension from the Commons after an inquiry found he had subjected a staff member to bullying and sexual misconduct.

More than 10% of voters in Wellingborough then voted to recall him, paving the way for a by-election.

In 2019, the Tories secured a majority of 18,540 in Wellingborough with 62.2% of the vote.

  • Andrea Watts, Labour: 13,737 votes, 26.5%
  • Suzanna Austin, Liberal Democrats: 4,078 votes, 7.9%
  • Marion Turner-Hawes, Green: 1,821 votes, 3.5%

Kingswood by-election

Chris Skidmore resigned as Conservative MP for Kingswood, Gloucestershire, in protest at the Government’s plans to boost oil and gas drilling in the North Sea.

  • Dine Romero, Liberal Democrats: 3,421 votes, 6.9%
  • Joseph Evans, Green: 1,200 votes, 2.4%
  • Angelika Cowell, Animal Welfare, 489 votes, 1%
Rochdale and its Town Hall

Rochdale by-election

The by-election in Rochdale was triggered by the death of Labour MP Sir Tony Lloyd in January.

This election will take place on the 29th February, two weeks after the other byelections taking place this month.

  • Chris Green, Brexit Party: 3,867 votes, 8.2%
  • Andy Kelly, Liberal Democrats: 3,312 votes, 7%
  • Sarah Croke, Green: 986 votes, 2.1%
