Police in the West Midlands have appealed for witnesses after a woman was critically injured in a hit and run.
The incident happened on the junction of Cattel Road and Arsenal Street in the east of Birmingham at around 11:45p.m. on Friday (March 29th).
As well as this, the woman's baby son was also hurt, with her partner and the couple's other one-year-old also being taken to hospital for treatment.
It is believed that the 30-year-old woman was a passenger in a blue Toyota Yaris that crashed into a blue Audi S3 late on Friday night.
The driver of the Audi got out of the car and fled the scene, and emergency services were called to treat the victims of the crash.
The woman was taken to hospital for her injuries, and currently remains in a critical condition according to a police update on Saturday (March 30th).
Speaking on the case, Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit of West Midlands Police said that anyone who would have been on the road is being urged to come forward.
"This happened on a busy road and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who recalls seeing the blue Audi just before the collision, on Cattel Road," Mr Hughes said.
“I know from CCTV that there were pedestrians and other cars at the scene who have not yet spoken to us.
“I would urge them to come forward and help us establish the full facts in order to give those involved the answers they need."
Mr Hughes also appealed directly to the driver of the Audi to come forward and hand themselves in. He added: "You may not have been aware of just how serious this collision was last night, but you know now."
Forensic examiners have been investigating the Audi, which was seized from the area, as officers try to piece together the events that led to the crash.
Anyone who may have any information or witnessed the crash is being urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police, quoting incident reference number 4650 on March 29th.
