One-year-old recovering in hospital after being struck by a firework

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening

A baby is recovering in hospital after being hit by a firework over the weekend.

South Yorkshire Police say that the one-year-old boy sustained serious injuries on Sunday, November 7th.

Emergency services were called to the boy's home at around 1.30pm, his injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.

An investigation into how the incident happened is now underway.

A spokesperson from South Yorkshire Police said:

"Police were called at around 1:30pm on 7 November 2021 to reports that a one-year-old boy had been hit by a firework in Batemoor Drive."

"The boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital via ambulance. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

"An investigation has been launched. Officers have spoken to a number of individuals in connection to the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
